Joy Williams, 23, died after travelling to Bangkok, Thailand, to have £2,000 buttock augmentation surgery.
And speaking from his home in Lagos, Nigeria, Ms Williams’ older brother Anietie, 28, said the family had to find out details of the tragedy from reports.
‘We don’t really know what went wrong, we only know what is in reports in the media,’ he said.‘She was a very nice and caring person.
‘She brought joy to people’s lives. She was a beautiful girl, loved by everybody. We will miss her so much.’
Ms Williams, who was born in Lagos, moved to Thames mead with her mother Christie in 2007 and had been to Thailand twice before choosing to visit for the cut-price operation.
She initially visited the clinic on 14 October for the operation but was forced to return a few days later after her wounds became infected. Sompob Sansiri, 51, the doctor who carried out the procedure, was later arrested and accused of negligence after he was found to have been carrying out the surgery without a night-time licence.
Thailand, which is a world-leader in ‘cosmetic surgery tourism’, offers procedures at large discounts and pulled in £2.68billion alone.
What a waste, such a pretty girl. Love the body you got, its unique no two of its kind.
