Some of the residents who spoke in Yola and Mubi towns expressed joy over military clampdown on the sect members. Some of them revealed that they pray for permanent end to the insurgency in the region.
One of the residents in Mubi, who gave his name as Ibrahim Buba, said he was happy with the development as displaced persons from the crisis areas had started returning to Madagali and Michika towns.
“Many of us that fled Mubi following the attack on Madagali and Michika have returned because of the victory over the terrorists. We now have confidence that the military is equal to the task and you can see that even banks that closed operations in Mubi have started returning’’ Buba said.
Speaking also, another resident of Mubi, Daniel Kwaji, commended the military clampdown, especially the killing of the impostor of the sect leader, Abubakar Shekau.
“We are happy with what we are hearing, particularly the killing of Shekau by our soldiers. We want the military to sustain the tempo by recovering the areas still under the insurgents, particularly villages in Madagali and Michika local government areas of the state’’ Kwaji said.
