The head of a yet to be identified man was on Friday severed in the presence of his wife by a mass transit bus at Ekae community in Oredo local government area of Edo State.
Witnesses said the incident occurred at about 12:30pm when the couple were waiting to board a vehicle to Warri, Delta State.
The bus marked ED110-B28 and owned by Edo State Government was said to have veered off the road and rammed into the victim. According to a witnesses,
“It looked like the brake failed because of the way the bus just hit the man and removed his head. The man died instantly but the woman was lucky to jump and escape.”
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Oluwasusi Familoni, who confirmed the incident, said identity of the deceased could not be ascertained at the time of the accident.
He, however, said the remains of the victim had been deposited at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital mortuary.
